Cough, Cough, Sniffle, Sniffle…Is your dog sick?
It’s that time of year, when the coughs and the sniffles become apparent, but it’s a lot harder to tell if your pet is sick from your child. Clearly.
Determining if you pet is sick is a lot trickier than figuring out if your child is ill. Since your dog, cat and/or pets can’t communicate with you, as a dedicated pet parent you must keep a keen eye on and observe your pet at all times. Ask your veterinarian if you are uncertain about your pet’s condition. Some of the normal warning signs might include, lethargy, disorientation, weakness, weight loss, seizure, lack of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, unproductive retching, straining to urinate, bloody urine, difficulty or inability to walk, bleeding, pale mucous membranes, difficulty breathing and persistent cough. It is up to you to take responsibility for your pet when he/she is ill. If your pet is sick, contact your veterinary hospital and have your pet examined immediately.
